Migrating Landscapes – Ontario Regional Exhibition
read more >>
Migrating Landscapes is a nation-wide architecture competition and series of exhibitions that explores how Canadian architects and designers ages 45 and under have been influenced by migration and immigration. The winners will represent Canada at the prestigious 2012 Venice Biennale in Architecture.
The Ontario Regional Exhibition, hosted by Brookfield Place, will feature videos, in which 26 young Ontario entrants talk about how their experiences of migration have affected them as designers, together with original architectural models of dwellings that reflect on these experiences. The videos and models will be placed into a wooden exhibition infrastructure, representing an act of ‘settling’ into a ‘new landscape’.
An Ontario jury made up of An Te Liu, Michael Moxam, Chris Pommer, Lisa Rochon and Brigitte Shim will select Ontario winners, who will advance to a national competition and exhibition at the Winnipeg Art Gallery in March/April 2012. There, a high-profile national jury (Eleanor Bond, Ian Chodikoff, Anne Cormier, Bruce Kuwabara and John Patkau) will select the young, architectural ‘Team Canada’ that will represent Canada at the Venice Biennale in Architecture from August 29 to November 25, 2012, which is the equivalent of the ‘Architecture Olympics’.
Come and vote for your favourite Ontario entry in the People’s Choice Award!
Monday, February 6 to Friday, February 24, 2012.

Youth Without Shelter is an emergency residence and referral agency providing shelter and support programs to enable youth to live responsibly and independently in society. Tokens4Change is an annual fundraising initiative to raise TTC tokens for homeless youth residing at the Shelter. Tokens are essential for homeless youth to use public transit for getting to school and/or work, doctor visits, attending job interviews and securing housing. Through artistic youth performances, including song, dance and poetry, Tokens4Change brings forth the issue of youth homelessness and aims to break one of the barriers faced by a homeless young person.
The event will be held over 12 hours on February 10 in TTC Subway Stations throughout Toronto and some Path locations. This years Tokens4Change Central Rally will take place at Yonge-Dundas Square. The goal of this event is to raise TTC tokens for the residents at Youth Without Shelter, to create awareness surrounding youth poverty, and to empower youth to support local youth. The New Porsche 911
read more >>
For just the seventh time in almost 50 years, an all-new, totally-redesigned Porsche 911 will go on sale in February 2012. This latest generation of the iconic sports car further extends the span between the apparently contradictory attributes – performance and efficiency, sportiness and everyday practicality – that have always been at the core of its appeal. While unmistakably a 911 from first glance, a lower, leaner silhouette, sharper contours and precisely-designed details hint at substantial changes underneath the skin. Indeed, the new 911 Carrera models represent the largest evolutionary step in the car’s 48-year history. The greatest 911 ever will be the subject of launch events for Pfaff Porsche and Downtown Porsche on February 15 and 16, and will be on display to the public in Sam Pollock Square at Brookfield Place from Friday, February 17 to Sunday, February 26.
